WHY WE BUILT IT

The paperwork should not steal the joy.

For more than 25 years, we have been homeschooling our children, and we are not finished yet. Over the course of that journey, we have tried just about every method you can imagine: notebooks, spreadsheets, three-ring binders, printed lesson plans, paper checklists, and more than a few “homeschool software” solutions.

Each one helped for a season. Each one solved part of the problem. But none of them truly fit the way a real homeschool family actually works.

We needed something simple enough to use every day, flexible enough to adapt to different children and learning styles, and powerful enough to handle the administrative side without taking over our lives.

Because teaching is only part of the work.

There are courses to plan, assignments to track, grades to record, transcripts to build, requirements to remember, and progress to document. Multiply that by several children in different grades, using different curricula, moving at different speeds, and the paperwork begins to feel like a second full-time job.

That is the problem we set out to solve.

After decades of trying to make existing tools work—including more paper than I care to admit—we finally decided it was time to build something ourselves.

That was the beginning of Student to Scholar.

We built this with you in mind because we are you.

Student to Scholar is the result of lessons learned over more than two and a half decades of homeschooling: what works, what gets ignored, what becomes too cumbersome, and what families actually need when Monday morning arrives.

Homeschooling is a calling, a responsibility, and a privilege. Managing the paperwork should not steal your joy.
